Ellie Volders

Specialist Family Practitioner

Ellie joined My CWA in 2023 as part of the Children and Young People (CYP) team, quickly making her mark and earning a promotion to Specialist Family Practitioner. Before taking this role, Ellie volunteered with My CWA to support the White Ribbon campaign. With a law degree that focused on family law, human rights, and cyber law—particularly around the harm experienced by young people—Ellie brings a strong academic foundation to her role. Her specialist area involves working with parents and older children or young adults, particularly those exhibiting harmful behaviors or harmful sexual behaviors.

Ellie is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs, an area where she has significant experience. Her previous volunteer work with Friends for Leisure and her time tutoring high school students have equipped her with the skills and empathy needed to connect with and support vulnerable young people.

Ellie’s personal lived experience of domestic abuse further deepens her understanding and commitment to this work. In addition to her direct practice, Ellie has contributed to the development of My CWA's training programs, most notably the ‘Engage Supporting Families’ training. She has also collaborated closely with colleagues, including working alongside Katy McGlynn on the CADA project. Ellie’s dedication to continuous professional development is evident in her recent training commitment to conduct AIM assessments, her completion of RYPP (Respect Young People’s Programme), verbal de-escalation and SEA (Surviving Economic Abuse) training. She is actively engaged in sector research focused on young people with harmful behaviours.
